DEPUTY MINISTER HAILS SRWB

On Saturday the 7th of January 2023, the Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation Honorable John Bande visited SRWBs Mangochi Zone to ascertain the quality of water being provided by the Board especially in the wake of the Cholera outbreak.

His visit started with a brief at the Zone office where out of many points the Chief Executive Officer of Southern Region Water Board said that its goal was to increase its service area in Mangochi and he expressed that this would soon be achieved with the completion of the Mangochi Portable Water Supply Project in Nkhudzi Bay. He further said the Board was increasing service area’s by taking over various Water User Associations in the Southern Part of Malawi as in line with government directive.

After the brief the Minister toured Mangochi Zone Intake and treatment work where Mangochi Zone Water Quality Engineer explained the water treatment process and also demonstrated how water quality is assured by conducting a water quality test. After the quality test the minister visited a water Kiosk in M’baluku Community where another demonstration of the water’s security from the users end was given.

In his remarks the Deputy Minister expressed his satisfaction with the quality of water the Board was providing and he encouraged Malawians to use the safe water provided by the Board.
