Duncan Chambamba

Duncan Chambamba is a seasoned human resource and organizational management expert, bringing over three decades of public and private sector experience to the helm of Southern Region Water Board (SRWB). A specialist in people management, Mr. Chambamba holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management and a Master’s in Business Administration—qualifications that have anchored his professional growth and earned him deep respect within the water utility sector.
Mr. Chambamba joined SRWB in 1998 as an Administrative Officer and rose through the ranks to become Director of Human Resource and Administration, before assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer in 2021. As one of the longest-serving members of the Board, his journey reflects dedication, deep institutional knowledge, and a commitment to service delivery.
Since taking on the mantle of CEO, Mr. Chambamba has led Southern Region Water Board with a focus on performance, accountability, and innovation. Under his leadership, the Board has intensified efforts to improve water supply reliability, enhance customer satisfaction, and increase operational efficiency. His hands-on approach, combined with strategic foresight, has seen the implementation of key projects, strengthened institutional partnerships, and a renewed focus on climate resilience and sustainability.
